Is your business protected against Cyber crime?

If you’re a business owner, you are more than likely to have a company website, but are you aware of the threat of cyber crime and have you adequately protected your site against it?

Firstly, cyber crime is REAL and it can be extremely damaging to your business, especially if you need full scale data recovery expertise or have a major hardware failure. And if you don’t have the right insurance policy in place to help prevent these types of cyber attacks, it could leave a big dent in your brand’s reputation.

Secondly, your web host provider is not the person responsible for taking out cyber security insurance – the onus is on the business owner i.e. YOU!

Having said that here at Holly Small Design we take measures to dramatically reduce the chances of Cybercrime. Our hosting package includes daily backups, web software maintenance, security updates and plugin updates. Sites that are not updated on a regular basis and those with out of date software and plugins and are far more likely to be affected and are more prone to being hacked.

Getting the right insurance

Some of the worst security breaches have cost in the region of £100-£300,000 so it’s vital for your company to ensure it has the necessary insurance coverage in place from the start to help deal with any cyber breach eventualities and financial implications which may arise from them.

It’s absolutely key to check your insurance policy provides the cover you need if this situation arises, so business owners need to take a careful look at what things might cost if it all goes wrong including, data breaches and corruption, business losses, new hardware purchases, payment for expert advice and support, liability claims, loss of any income and so on.
