Should I redesign my website?

Life doesn't stand still and neither should your website. But a site redesign is not always a decision that can be made quickly, at the end of the day it does require budget. Maybe just a little for some small adjustments or perhaps a larger sum for a complete redesign. If you're mulling it over though, don't mull for too long. Your website is, after all your shop window to the world.

Let us try and help you with the decision. Ask yourself the following questions:

Does it work well on a mobile phone or tablet?

Mobile devices have become the primary (not secondary) screen for most users. 80% of all internet users own a smartphone, and use their mobile device for online searching. Not only that though, if you want to get anywhere in Google search rankings you must make sure your web site is mobile friendly. Ensuring your website is responsive and mobile friendly is a must, budget wise it won't break the bank.

How long do visitors to your site stick around for?

If your web analytics show a high bounce rate (visitors who navigate away from your site after reviewing just one page) this could be reason enough to consider a site redesign. Add to this equation low time on site and low average page visits, the stats scream out that your site is not useful for one reason or another. Work with your design team to map out your site design for an increase in qualified traffic and leads.

Does your site look like it was built in the '00's?

A web site actually only needs to be a few years old to look out-of-date. Today's designs are clean and easy to navigate. Too much text is a no no, ask yourself if a spring clean is required. It's important that your customers and potential customers trust you, and a strong site design can help make that happen.

How quickly do your pages load?

According to KISSmetrics, 47% of consumers expect a web page to load in 2 seconds or less, and 40% of people will abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load! It's very important that your website pages load quickly, not only will your customers stick around but they'll have a great experience too.

Does your website match your brand?

Businesses evolve and change over-time. You may have rebranded or repositioned your business. Your website is one of your most important business assets. It's the hub of your online activity and in many cases the first impression a potential customer will have of your brand. If the look and feel of the site isn't in-line with your current target audience and your current messaging, it's time to update.
